Five Indians had been brought back to England by Captain Weymouth from the Monhegan area in 1605:
Assacomet, Maneddo, Skicowarres, Tahanedo and Amoret.
Maneddo went with Assacomet on the Challons ill-fated voyage in 1605, when they were captured by the Spanish. It seemed Maneddo died in Spain before he could be rescued. Assacomet was rescued, returned to England and put under the care of Sir Ferdinando Gorges.
Skicowarres went with the Popham settlement expedition in
1607. When that failed, he stayed with his people.
Tahanedo and Amoret went with the Capt. Pring voyage in
1606. They were left at Pemaquid by Pring.
Capt. Harlow captured Epenow, Manawet (or Monope), Sakaweston, Pekenimme and Coneconam, primarily from Monhegan and Capawack areas in 1611 . Of the five only Epenow is known to have been returned to New England. He, together with Assacomet, were sent back with Capt. Hobson in 1614.
