The Stanfield Chronicles

Places

While the focus of the Chronicles is on the development of New England, there are a number of places in England and on the Continent of Europe that have important parts to play in the narrative.

Dorchester, Dorset was where Isaac’s formative years were spent  and where Rev. John White was the rector of Holy Trinity Church.

Plymouth, Devon was the center of Sir Ferdinando Gorges’ operations and whither Isaac moved to pursue his career.

La Rochelle, France was an important entrepot for English west country merchants trading New England merchandise. It’s increasing instability resulted in efforts to build trade directly with New England.

Leiden, Holland was the refuge of the English separatists driven from England in 1607 whence a group of them emigrated to New England in 1620.
